Scope

Dipylon Society is a non-profit organization (NPO) for the study of ancient topography through interdisciplinary research on Archaeology, History, Informatics and Cartography. Founded in 2014, it focuses on collecting, organizing and disseminating archaeological knowledge, making the most of the cutting edge technology in Digital Humanities, specifically GIS and web-mapping.

Through the development of innovative methodologies, Dipylon Society aims at both communicating with the academic community and reaching out to the general public. The objective is to contribute to research and education on the topography of ancient cities and related cultural landscapes and to seek innovative ways of enhancing relationships between citizens and monuments.
